The courses have objectives that include Power Stars, coins, enemies, platforms, puzzles, and environmental obstacles. Different characters provide unique abilities that can help players reach areas or complete objectives in different ways. The game begins with Yoshi and allows players to unlock Mario, Luigi, and Wario during the adventure. The Nintendo DS touchscreen also introduces additional controls and a collection of minigames. Super Mario 64 DS Gameplay

Super Mario 64 DS is a 3D platformer focused on exploring, jumping, moving around, collecting things, solving puzzles and fighting enemies. Players enter the castle and choose from a number of courses, completing objectives to earn Power Stars. These can be collecting coins, killing enemies, reaching hard to get to areas, solving environmental puzzles, or completing certain course objectives. There are four playable characters, each with different abilities, so picking the right character is an important part of exploration.
