Finn and Jake wake up one morning to find their garbage has disappeared without a trace. It turns out the Ice King is behind it all, and he's stolen their trash to create some weird new character called the Garbage Princess. Finn and Jake are off across the Land of Ooo to find out what the Ice King is up to. On their journey they explore dangerous areas, enter dungeons, fight enemies, collect items and meet familiar Adventure Time characters. The story mixes the humour and weirdness of the animated series with classic action-adventure gameplay.

The game features overworld adventuring and dungeon-based action. Finn and Jake’s adventure in the Land of Ooo is in a top-down perspective, while the dungeon sections are 2D side-scrolling gameplay.
