The game takes place in a bright high fantasy world that is actually the distant future ruins of Earth – that is, at heart it’s a post-apocalyptic tale in fantasy clothing. Distant descendants of mankind have learned to harness a mysterious force known as Gaia. The player becomes El, a young hero in the final stages of training as a Gaia warrior, who is unexpectedly assigned the task of defeating an encroaching evil threatening the world. Together with his two companions Kishe and Uranus, El has to gather and lead an army of demons to war against the forces of darkness to become a true Gaia Master.

Revelations: The Demon Slayer has simple, text-based random-encounter fights similar to the early Dragon Quest games, so you don’t see your characters fighting on-screen, only the effects of their attacks. Base mechanics: Travel from town to town, from dungeon to dungeon, from a top-down overworld perspective, battling random encounters along the way. You can also get a little more creative than just fighting with enemy demons – based on your level relative to theirs, they may ask you questions and if you answer them well, they may join your party. Recruit and manage more than 100 different monster species, on a par with the monster recruitment system of Dragon Quest V in scale. It also includes the classic Megami Tensei mechanic of fusing two allied demons to create new and more powerful demons. Note that unlike later Megaten titles, recruited demons in this game cannot level up on their own, so fusion becomes key to keeping your team strong. Game Link mode provides a means for two players to pit their best monsters against a friend’s team. New players tips: Don't dismiss any negotiations, because having strong demons early on makes the mid-game much easier than relying solely on El's party. Demons do not level up . You don ' t want to hoard low tier monsters , you want to plan your fusions in advance . Save often before boss fights (“Gaia Masters”) as they hit way harder than normal fights. Some demons are resistant or weak to some spell types so , you are trained to keep a balanced team of elemental types.
