Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies Story

Sentinels of the Starry Skies has a unique premise of a race of sky-dwelling guardians who watch over humanity in silence. Celestrians are winged guardian spirits who live in a floating Observatory high above the mortal world. They are tasked with protecting the Great World Tree, Yggdrasil, the key to their people’s destiny. The Celestrians that are chosen are the guardians of the common folk . They grant wishes , guard villages and keep humans safe from harm , in a discreet manner . In the process they gather a positive energy, called benevolessence, which is used to feed Yggdrasil and allow it to grow and eventually bear magical fruit known as fyggs. As this plan is realized the player's story begins, but not as they expected. The World Tree finally bears its long awaited fruit and an explosion shakes the Observatory. The player’s character, stripped of their wings and memories of their former life, falls down to the world below. From there the newly grounded hero must recover the scattered fyggs and find out exactly what caused the devastating attack on their home in the sky. Along the way, players meet a lively cast of NPCs and companions in and around the kingdom of Stornway and elsewhere, including King Schott, Princess Simona, and a number of party members recruited to help track down fallen angels who have been turned into monsters as an unintentional side effect of the power of the wish-granting fruit.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies Gameplay

Battle System: Dragon Quest IX unlike many of the previous games in the series has no random encounters. Battles start on contact with monsters, which are visible on the field. Combat is also turn based, and occurs in two stages. In the first person command stage players select actions for their entire party, which are then executed in real time against the enemy group in the third person stage. Equipment and Alchemy: Beyond looting gear from defeated enemies, players can craft entirely new weapons, armor, and items through the game's alchemy system, combining ingredients and existing equipment into more powerful upgrades — a major part of long-term progression. Grottoes: Random dungeons: The grotto system is one great post-game and side-content feature. Players can find treasure maps that point to the general area of a hidden grotto — a randomly generated dungeon filled with unique enemies and loot. The normal overworld map is replaced by a treasure map on the top screen of the DS that leads to the entrance of the grotto which only opens when players reach the correct location and interact with it. Loot hunters will find the game has near-infinite replayability as each discovered grotto is still accessible later on when the treasure map is reopened. Co-op Multiplayer Local: Sentinels of the Starry Skies supports up to four players simultaneously via local wireless connection, letting friends team up to explore dungeons, tackle side quests, and battle monsters together — with each connected player able to freely control their own character rather than simply following along.
