After the events of the first game, Agent 47 retires from the assassination business, and is living a peaceful life in a church. But when Father Vittorio is taken hostage, his past comes back to haunt him. 47 returns to his old job, taking on a number of contracts so that he can find Vittorio and keep him safe. His missions take him to places like Italy, Russia, Japan, Malaysia, Afghanistan, and India. Throughout the story, 47 learns that the contracts are part of a bigger conspiracy that involves dangerous criminals and powerful organisations. In the end his quest for Father Vittorio becomes much larger.
