Gordon Freeman is a scientist at Black Mesa Research Facility, showing up for a routine experiment. The experiment triggers a resonance cascade of an unexpected nature, with the consequence of a catastrophic incident which opens up portals between the Earth and another dimension. Suddenly aliens begin appearing all over the facility and the military is called in to contain the situation. Gordon must explore the damaged research facility, solve environmental puzzles and survive ever more dangerous encounters while trying to figure out what caused the disaster.

Half-Life is a first person shooter but it’s also about exploring, fighting and interacting with the environment. Players traverse the Black Mesa facility, collecting weapons and ammunition, fighting hostile creatures and soldiers, and solving puzzles in an effort to advance the story. The game features a variety of weaponry – including guns and experimental apparatus. As are health and armor management and different enemies call for different combat strategies.

Control Gordon Freeman from a first-person perspective and explore the Black Mesa facility. Follow the environment and objectives to find your way through different areas. Collect weapons, ammunition, health, and armor, then use the appropriate weapon against different enemies. Look for switches, doors, ladders, elevators, and environmental clues when progression is blocked. Save your progress regularly and use cover during combat.
